Motor mount carrier bent
#16
I just did one. No you do not need to remove the rear bumper, but it would sure make it easier. You do need to get the rear tin out, which comes out really easy, but goes in really hard. You will need to remove the rear foil covered heat protectors to get it back in. Remove the lower pipe bracket, muffler, muffler hanger, heat exchange cross over pipe, and drop the motor a few inches once you have the mounts out. Then it comes right out.

Race Car
I have an extra (lightly) reinforced, but straight engine carrier. I replaced mine with the rennline one while my engine was out. 150 is the price for the original. I think someone just asked me for pics, and of course I forgot to send them as usual...I will get those out if you are watching...
Anyway - if you need a carrier to replace yours, gimmie a shout.

Thanks, Guys for all your input and great advice. Vandit great pictures I like the yellow. I am going to try it without removing the rear bumper unless I have to. I read that there are some rivets that have to be drilled out to remove the rear bumper. I don’t know if that’s true some people said you don’t have to drill the rivets out.

Three Wheelin'
There are rivets that fasten the plastic of the bumper to the actual bumper frame. But you only need to drill them out if you're removing the skin of the bumper. Otherwise, the whole thing unbolts from the car as a single piece (hope that makes sense).
Anyway, I kept the bumper attached when I replaced the carrier and I didn't have any trouble. I did remove the engine tins and the muffler and possibly lowered the engine slightly with the jack. I remember it being pretty straightforward.

Well I got it out. Didn’t have to remove the bumper or the heat shield. Only the exhaust that I already had out the exhaust hanger and the heater pipe. Looking at it closer I noticed that both ends are bent in opposite directions. I think I will just send it off to be reinforced that way I know the holes are lined up correctly. I just wanted to thank you guys again.

I just received my reinforced engine carrier today. I have been looking but I can’t find the torque specs for the (4) bolts that hold it in place. Also is the torque for my 993 mounts 63 ft-lb? And what about the two bolts on top.
TIA

Great thread! I'm getting ready to do this tomorrow and have one question (so far). when you say the muffler has to be removed, do you mean the primary or the secondary muffler? or both? Thanks for all the great info!
