Could very well be, mine took a while before the smell went away.

Remove your center console and you will find a rubber plug under the back area of where the parking break is. Mine was completely dry rotted and I had a strong exhaust smell in the cabin. It was so bad that I coulod look thru the place where the plug was supposed to be and see the ground. I replaced the plug and the smell went away.

Take off the carpet pieces just forward of the front doors which enclose the wheelarch -just a few screws or clips and pull them off. Behind, running from the heater vents to the sills are usually some very fragile flexible corroguated aluminium ducts. You might find they have seen better days. They get really hot so be careful. Run the car with the heating on. See if they are leaking air.

Get the correct ones from Porsche to take the heat - not huge cost - and replace but they usually have to order them in so don't destroy the old ones yet. They are part of the heating system and keep the air going where it should. There is a bit of a knack to fit them but take your time and you might find your self upside down with your head in the footwell.

This link will show you where. (sort of)

page 466 and 467 item 11 left and right.

Otherwise it could be just oil on the heat exchangers as the others have said. At least that will get you into less trouble than perfume.

Checked those hoses, they look like new. thanks for the tip.

I'm going ot for a drive in a bit, I'll see if I get the smell without the heater on.
