Edit: I did some research regular rubber doesn't do well being in constant contact with solvent (naphtha). Viton is recommended. Not sure where I could get that readily today so I decided to try a gasoline resistant gasket sealer. I found Loctite Gasket Sealant #1 at my local auto parts store. I will let it sit over night before refilling the washer with solvent.

No affiliations.
Update - The sealant appears to be working. I had filled the tank with 13 gallons of solvent on Friday night. Sunday night, the joint is still dry. I'm happy.
