Default Project Shrek - For the concours freaks

I just came back from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. 700 miles round trip, to assist to a med convention. Those cars are tough. Only hiccup: a clogged windshield washer jet. Reached 210Km/h, used 10 liters/100 kms on the Swiss (slower) part. now at 234'000 Kms.
The fragile sensitivities, hit the back button. the strong ones, go on.... Yes it is mostly salt.

That's awesome! If you were not the first owner, how many of those kms are yours? What kinda of repairs/maintenance have you done to keep the car going?

Looks great!
Road trips like the one you just took are what these cars were built for.

I love cleaning my dirty car after a long road trip...it helps bring back menories of the trip.

The saddest pictures I've seen of that car was from when it sat unused, under a tarp.

Amazing I love the look of it actually being used.

Well, this particular car has a convoluted history, and avoided being parted very narrowly.

I have it since 223'000 Kms. In that interval:
-front diff seal leak
-one rear driveshaft CV boot
-distributor rebuild
-motor mounts
-discs and calipers all around
-one window motor
-power steering pump seal leak
-one big fuel leak in engine compartment (avoided a BIG bonfire with this one)
-front suspension bushings
-one battery

Those are the necessary repairs. there have been many other projects on the car (do a search for "shrek" to see all the work performed).

I still very much need a new windshield, and there is a big rust hole in the left front fender by the bumper. The AC evaporator is leaking, and some servo motors in the ventilation setup are inop.

A project car, very much.

These pics gave me seizures. I had to run out in the garage and lift up the TARP, yep, still clean.

But I do wish I had another one that I could use like this.

I'm sure the next owner is happy too...

Would you like a package of q-tips to help detail your car, George?

Good idea!
I have pressure rinsed it, and now every morning I have to unlock it from the passenger side... The driver lock freezes during the night. The car sleeps outside.
The next owner will get a battle scarred car maybe, but in well maintained state
