Laker,
It is 48 7/8, on center, of the two pegs. The pipe is 52" in total length.
If you are having a set made, I would definitely measure your jack ports to insure the distance is the same.

Brilliant!!! Elegant solution.
I would add a jack pad point to the tube 2/3 of the way back toward the rear of the car. Very nice idea!!!!
What guage tubing is being used there?

Chris,
1.25 Schedule 40 steel pipe was used on the first set of bars. There was a slight deflection on the bar when jacked.
We used 1.50 schedule 80 steel pipe on our second attempt. We tested it last night on my buddies 993 and it worked great with no noticable deflection.
I agree, welding a jack pad to the pipe is a good idea.

No problem Chris.
I really can't take credit for the design or build. It is the direct result of a retired heart surgeon with a talent for fabrication.
I was so thrilled with the finished product, I wanted to share this because I have received a tremendous amount of info on this site and it is payback time!

I love the idea, and am toying with fabricating the ends for people to put on an existing pipe... but I am concerned with the liability issue of providing these...
Does the pipe want to be round due to the jackstands that most people use? What if it was a square section?

The reason I went with the round tubing is it fits well in the old style jack stand perch and more surface area on the tube will be in direct contact with the jack stand perch.
Plus the bar rotates in the jack stand perch as you are jacking the the opposite side.

I don't think this would work on my low car though, but gives food for thought for a system which might.
Edit to add: I'm saving my schekles big time for a Bosch Motorsport ABS system for the next phase of Claudia's build. It's a shame air jacks are so pricy, as this is truly the elegant solution. If we decide not to go with the fancy ABS, I'll indeed have air jacks - what luxury!!!

We discussed this last night over a few beers. We just could not make the numbers work.
Kai, just drive up on a few planks. I only had to raise the rear. My car is just above euro.
