Here's one I made re-using the pipe end and a new straight end, hose and fittings purchased from Elephant Racing. I've had no issues with kinking and saved $500.

Thanks Opo I’m glad you got your sorted too.

JA, yes I had to sacrifice my new $200.00+ hose because I threw away the original hose. If I had it to do over I would have taken it to a hydraulic hose repair shop but I didn’t think the new hose would be such a POS. He reused the ends and made a very nice replacement far better than the OEM replacement for about $85.00. So I am out over $280.00 which should have been $85.00.

Metal, Yes I wish I would have known this could be easily made up by a custom hose shop.

That looks really nice! You should know that the metal mesh will act as a little saw on anything it touches. Best to pad all potential contact areas as the stainless braid will pretty much beat everything else into submission over the long term...

Enso, I would defiantly look into having your hose rebuilt using your original ends, better quality and a lot cheaper. Just make sure the crimp ends they have are the same size or smaller than the originals.

FeralComprehension the metal mesh is encapsulated inside the rubber hose and the outside is a cloth type material similar to the original hose.

Great- that sounds like exactly what you want. Do you have a part/model number on the hose used to rebuild yours? I'd love to be able to call the hydraulic shop and say "Do you have Festus MkII Ultra Hose?" (or whatever it's called...)

The hose is made by Couplamatic Systems Inc.
SAE 100R5 Cotton Cover DOT hose 11
The fittings are made by the same company
R501-16x16
They did have to machine the ends of the new fittings to accept the metric tubing and then braze the fitting to the tubing and then use there machine to crimp to the hose.

Are you sure is hose 11? I think it should be hose 16 (Inside Diameter 7/8"). Look at this:

You are right, the hose should be 22 m/m or 7/8' I.D. I just did one, bought it from www.elephantracing.com including the crimp collars, turned out perfect. No affiliation .........

Steen - What did you use to crimp the collars on to the hose pipe?

Thanks,
