Default WTB: 964 TIPTRONIC Coupe

I am entering the market for a 964 Tiptronic coupe to use as a daily driver and something the wife can comfortably hop into.

That's right, I said Tiptronic, which from my search appears to be a reliable transmission.

Not interested in Convertible, but am curious about Targas but I don't think I want the extra noise or seal issues.

I basically am looking to make a 964 Grand Touring daily driver. "Comfort" suspension, as quiet inside as possible (add sound dampener & weight!), SUV right height due to hilly area that I live in, upgrade the stereo, etc.

Love these cars and the support I get from Rennlist.

Nothing wrong with a TIP. Jut throw it into TIP mode and thrash the hell out of it. No over rev chance and great in traffic or hills.

.....and it makes a formidable DE car, once you learn its idiosyncrasies.

I stated out the same. I wanted a tiptronic coupe with stock suspension. I ended up with my 91 coupe tip 3 years ago and have absolutely no regrets. I thought about adding sound dampener but came to realize Porsche did a great job from the factory and is very quite inside as is.

hi,
my first 964 was a manual, RIP now, just got a 962 C2 tip... took a while to get used to (days actually)..
but genuinely NO REGRETS. i keep reading tip boxes are bulletproof, which is very reassuring.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH.

Here is another car I would like to buy but owner doesn't seem interested in selling. Slow responses to emails and I actually made an offer via email and voicemail and haven't heard back in days. Still listed on auto trader. This is not a situation I am comfortable with for a long distance purchase.

I was provided a PPI by the owner, not very comprehensive, but it stated oil cooler line leak issues and needs new belts.

I saved this car to my Autotrader account on October 23rd so car has been on the market for a while. Asking $18k , 100k miles, VIN: WP0AB2964PS420506

My plan was to take it to Stuttgart Performance Engineering and having Matt De Maria take a look at it for me. Owner was willing to do this.

Here is another car I am passing on, a North Carolina car with some time in Miami.

Rennlister 911Jetta (Udo) let me know about this car and was nice enough to go take a look at it and take it for a test drive. The Rennfax shows the car needs some cosmetic attention. Udo also let me know he spotted some rust under the front windshield which is a potential big red flag unless that gets fixed by the dealer. No service records and no manual. Although I believe the dealer can contact the former owner about this. Hopefully Udo will chime in with his observations and test drive experience.

VIN: WP0AB2961PS420432
Asking $21,900 79k miles

Lots more pictures here thanks to Udo:

How about this 93 C2 Tip on eBay? Worth a look at the asking price.

oops.... Missed that you had already passed on this one as it is silver. I'd almost be tempted myself if it weren't Tip. $17K seems pretty fair as an asking price.
