My dad purchased a 95 993 from victory, 53k on it for $32,000. The car came in pristine condition. in the first 30 days a small oil leak developed and he called victory. They said to get the car fixed and send them the bill. he did and they sent him a check. 7 yrs later, the abs went out at 75k. The car was very nice and he or I would not hesitate to buy another from Victory.

I have recently bought a salvage 93 964 and its in great shape. the body is straight and whoever fixed it did a marvelous job.

FYI

I looked at and negotiated the purchase of a 1990 C4 in San Antonio, contingent on a PPI. Thank God, I had the PPI done! I found that the car's hood had been damaged, filled and re-painted as well as an area on the right rear quarter panel.

Also someone had removed the bulbs from the warning lights. The shop in San Antonio, which is highly reputable replaced the bulbs and found several codes when hooked to the scanner. In fairness the car did drive and run well, however I wished the owner would have been more honest about the condition. After the PPI I exercised my right not to buy the car.

So I started looking on the internet when I found Victory. Here is where it gets good. The same car I had PPI in San Antonio ended up at Victory. I thought this would be my opportunity to "test" the integrity of the people at Victory. I called and asked specific questions about if the car had any paint work, wrecked etc. Each question was answered, "Not to my knowledge", which in my book means, I know but don't want to tell. If they are Porsche specialist they should be able to recognize these things. If they had been honest I would have passed on that car but inquired about others.

As I've stated before, Victory has some great cars, and some horrible cars. The problem is, they are all made to look like great cars. Caveat emptor.

Here is my VMC story.

Called VMC on 2/20/2013 asked about a red 95 993, was told it was there in stock.
Commercial flight and rental car acquired.

Arrived 2/21/2013 was informed that car had been sold weeks ago.
Looked at other cars in the lot. I drove 3 different cars.
Decided to buy a 1996 993 with 66k miles.
This car drove great, but had been repainted years before.
Had a small area of the fender that had been reworked.
The magnet I carried showed no bondo. Had new tires and service completed.
Autocheck showed clear title, 3 owners.

Maintenance history and books were provided.
I was able to negotiate the very high price but still a little too much.
I was in no means pressured into the purchased of this vehicle.

I have done some work on this car and its very easy to work on.
Its been a great car and runs great!
Clear title in hand.

September 13 2014 decided to trade on a newer Carrera S.
That dealer used Carfax not Autocheck to check my car.

My Carfax report showed "Salvaged".
I also found out the maintenance books for my car were not for my car!
My fault for not noticing?

Contacted Robert Neal. Very elusive with his answers.

I contacted the National Insurance Crime Bureau (www.nicb.org).
I was informed Carfax was correct and Autocheck in error.

My only complaint is the vehicle was advertised as a clean Carfax, but I was provided with an Autocheck report. Also the maintenance book issue.

Many emails later I have started the process of filing complaints.
I don't expect much.

I have a friend who purchased a 993 five years ago from VMC and its been a great car.
Buyer Beware!

I always find it humorous when i see this thread pop back up. Thank god it's here, so don't get me wrong....

But that said...when it pops up, makes me think that the idea is that used Porsche dealers are different than used car dealers...cuz of course, it's a Porsche, and Porsche people are different...

People are people and a used car is a used car. I have never expected a used car dealer to be up front and honest. Sad but true. But you see, since my expectations don't get blown, I don't get mad...lol.

Victory and others find cars and try to sell them to someone, anyone, for a profit. The only guy I would never buy a car from, is the guy that won't help me take the car for an independent PPI. And then the rest is on me. The car doesn't lie, the person does....

PPI. PPI. PPI.

All that said. I would prefer if these guys would do something to change the stereotype. But I'm not going to hold my breath.
