RSA=Vanity case (this is for Kai's benefit )..... C2=Value case....

I must admit that the sunroof delete is the sweetest option for an RSA. The RSA seats added to the C2 are fantastic (best seats ever in a 911) and moderately easy to source.

All kidding aside, the RSA will indeed command higher pricing, but once you boil out the true production numbers for the C2 manual 5 speed coupes, you'll find they too are in the "low production" number category, and indeed a screaming value for the $.

I'm not vain, dammit...just gorgeous and superb behind the wheel of a rear engined car!

Think I'll go to the pantry and sulk for a while....

RS C2

Weight 2954 lbs. 3031 lbs. (77 lb. diff.)

H.P. 260 247 (13 hp diff.)

0-60 mph 5.4 sec. (factory) 5.5 sec. (factory) ( .1 sec. diff.)

I saved easily 70 lbs. by removing the 8-way, electric seats and replaced them with Recaro PP's, slapped on some PSS10s and firm springs, and a cat bypass and although not an RS, she is a pretty darn fast car for the money. She is still a better car than I am a driver.....
Maybe I am cheap, but I like to make value purchases and a C2 looked like a pretty good deal.
Where do you get the 260 HP figure? Porsche's press releases from the time do not mention this. To the contrary.

The 2954 lb weight is for a sunroof delete car with no AC. Those two items will bring the weight up.

Lot's of great info at http://www.rsamerica.net/

With respect to source of info for 260 hp in the RSA, it was Wikopedia. Some tech reports claim no difference in engine hp (247) and others claim 260 hp. Good point on the sun roof delete and AC weight issue.

Default no difference

They all had the same engines. There were some urban myths out there, but not true.

Both great cars but I think these days the RSA seems more expensive to own. The miles you drive are gonna cost you more in depreciation and will require you to be more careful to protect your investment. Also to be completely honest 964 buyers are tough enough to deal with but selling an RSA would be tougher yet I'd imagine. Buyers are very well educated which is good but it seems many of them make a sport of due diligence.

The first person who brings up blueprinted engines, wrinkled paint, rolled fenders or seam welded Cup tubs will be banned

I am not sure that there will be much future depreciation in either the RSA or C2. My guess is that these have hit bottom and that the RSA's did not drop as much as the C2 and are leading the way back. As more people realize how good these cars are and how few are out there the prices will be on the ascendancy. My thoughts are that the C2 will start to close the gap (% wise) to the RSA, but that there will continue to be a premium for the RSA. The gap may stay the same in total $'s but will not be double as today.

Buy them while they are still cheap.

Didn't the RSA have thinner glass? I think that's neat.

The 964 Carrera 2 RS did have thinner glass windows on the sides, along with 260 HP, and weighed in at 2712 lbs. Missing from this model were sunroof, electric mirrors, power seats, central locking alarm, rear seats, sound deadening and undercoating, airbags, etc.

I could be wrong but I don't think this version was available in the US. A few cars have been federalized and imported.
