This is my Carrera 2 1990 - a dream on track and a nightmare on public roads. I bought the car last year with a plan to develop it into a serious track day club sport car. It handles well and sounds super!
First owner was french racing driver Monsieur Francois Fiat, who successfully competed in among others a 911 RSR and a 996 Cup. I believe he´s still active. His racing background might explain why the car was equipped with a differential (option code 220) from the factory, a relatively rare option. The car changed hands a couple of times before ending up in Leicester, Great Britain, where a swedish motor journalist bought it, registered the car in Sweden, and ran a series of articles on the car in a leading car magazine. I´ve had the car now for one season and can´t wait to take it to the track again next summer!
Spec:
Rebuilt original engine converted into 3.8 L
993 hotfilm MAF
RS motor mounts
RS flywheel
Cargraphic GT Auspuff with symmetrical headers, no heat exchangers, 100 cell race cat and twin tailpipes
H&R monotube coilover
Poly bushings
Sparco Evo x2
Schroth HANS
Sparco steering wheel
Full Heigo roll cage
Carbon fiber roof
Makrolon windows
No sound insulation
No power steering
No AC
No radio
Planned major upgrades this winter are 993TT brakes and stiffer suspension. Feel free to AMA or follow the car at

Max,
Welcome to Rennlist. You are one of a number of Swede's on here with outstanding 964's. Love the retro side script, a nod to the past.
I notice a picture of our friend Thomas and his beautiful C2 on your flickr site - his car is a real inspiration.
Would you tell us more about your carbon roof installation please?
Have you weighed your car?
Cheers

Living in Sweden w/ no heat, how do you manage?
I'll be in Malmo in a couple weeks and know that I gotta pack extra warm.
I live in Texas and we only have mild winters, and I still can't man up to the idea of ditching heat.

Thank you all for your warm welcomes and nice comments about the car, makes me feel at home here. Don´t worry about the heating, summers here are hot and during the winter this very car is tucked away in a warm cozy garage!
In the pics, it´s not actually snow but limestone dust. It was late in the day just after sunset and I´d spent a whole day at Gotland Ring. The track is beautifully located in a limestone quarry, so the surroundings are all pitch black tarmac, bright white ground and deep blue sky. Spectacular! The track is an amazing drive, truly technical and lots of fun.
Installing the carbon roof was pretty smooth thanks to some friends that helped me out. They are professional sheet metal workers, spare time race mechanics and passionate drivers themselves. I guess all of that helped! Roof was ordered from Perfomance Trim, a British manufacturer no longer around, and the fit was great straight out of the box. How we did it pretty much shows if you browse my flickr photostream, but in short we removed the sun roof, cut out the rest of the metal roof behind the reinforcement beam and then glued the carbon roof to the body with marine sealer. Very happy with the result. Engine/flywheel sound level inside is massive but the upside is I´ll never be able to hear my passenger scream...
The car is yet to be properly weighted, but an educated guess is it must be closer to 1250 than 1300 kg.
Happy to see Thomas getting credit. He´s such a friendly and generous guy. He´s also one hell of a driver, so hats off to that. Cheers / Max
