Thanks Laker!
Anto, I ordered through an independent Porsche Racing Workshop I use for my upgrades and rebuilds. Could be FVD but were delievered from Cargraphic. Many products you´ll find in the usual european web shops are the same make only labeled differently. For my 996 turbo I bought high end "Gemballa" products at half the price directly from FVD.

I ran the car solely on 99 until Shell decided to dillute V-Power with ethanol in Sweden. Now I have no choice but to fuel it 98.

edit: Engine behaviour 1000 - 3000 rpm? Idling is smooth, even torque, no problem. The boost kicks in at around 3800-4200 but I guess you can remap the power curve to pretty much whatever works for you. A friend of mine runs Motec on his 964 and his engine doesn´t really come alive until 5000.

BA964,

thanks a lot for the explanation.
Could you rate the power increase in percentage at 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 rpm?

tks again

Max, thanks for the photographic update.

Your car looks stunning. You upgraded your brakes to big reds too?

Yup, apart from the usual new oils, fluids, spark plugs etc and some minor fixes, Big Reds and a quick release snap off steering wheel are the "only" mods for 2012. Saving up money and energy for restoration (erm, not really, total make over might be a better word) next year...

Hi

Love that! Great car. Is it really that bad on the road?

All the best

Ha!

"Saving up money and energy". Love it. I know the feeling well.

After two years of minimal driving and maximum saving, I'm expecting my hot rod to be ready soon. Can't wait. I'll look forward to posting pictures of another black Gamroth/Weiner prepared track rat, sometime soon.

Not looking forward to the bill though ....

Thanks! Well, it's driveable on the road as long as you don't get caught in traffic... no power steeing, RS flywheel, racing brake pads... the upside is I get a lot of head turns and thumbs up when they hear me coming!

Nice, looking fwd to pics of your track rat! And when it comes to the bill... I understand you completely, my survival method is lying down on the couch when having a quick look at the total, then paying it instantly before archiving the bill forever never to look at it again.

Hi Max - I found your Flickr stream while searching re 964 3.8.
I have one too - but trying to sort out the idle and engine mgmt issues. Small but annoying
as mine idles hi ie 2k. Are you using motec? Or did you piggyback on the original motronic?

also I see your engine looks most like mine that I've seen
Although I don't have maf or AFM. Is your TPS attached?

Here's mine ...
