I wonder if the owner of the 964 is on here? If so, glad it wasn't you that got out of shape on the Autocross!

Saw the video earlier and the first thing I noticed was the clean 964 by the timing truck.
Yea, that run was weird. The dude was taking it easy for the whole run until moments before he wrote off the poor Vette.
Sure, the driver could have done better/not lost control, but I think course design was a bit of an issue here. I've had some pretty hairy spins in my poor handling C2 (blown suspension) that could have easily ended up just as poorly had the course design I was running included a solid obstacle within close proximity of the racing line.

That sure sucks. I hope the driver is ok.
It appears to me that there was an opportunity to correct the skid by turning in the front wheels. Does this seem correct or was the curb just too close? I wonder how his insurance would handle this.

Are we sure something didn't break? (before we trash the driver or handling characteristics)
Not saying it wasn't the driver but its a really odd accident at low speed, on dry tarmac, in a nearly straight line...

Watch and listen.
Driver applies a fair amount of throttle before he unwinds steering; the car does what it's told to do. By the time he reacts with countersteer, its far too little far too late.
Classic.

Three Wheelin'
If one of his gold chains got wrapped around his steering wheel, is that driver error or equipment failure???
Sorry, I had to... Fact remains, I still want a Corvette. Just maybe not that one.
This was buried a few pages down in the 'Comments' section. As this is the interwebz, can't be 100% certain if it's true, but it may provide a "why" to go along with the "what happened":
"HERE IS THE TRUTH..
i was here at the event. this is NOT an edit. this guy really could not drive. all day he got away with flooring the pedal and recovering. his confidence misled him to thinking that it would be okay to do and not learn from his mistakes.
oh and the guy in the red sweater who came up to him (i believe his son) is a douche and neither father nor son had a clue waht they were doing at the track."

Looked to me like the driver knew that was the point on the course where he was closest to the camera and playing for the camera lead to his downfall!
