Thank you so much for the reply. That puts my mind at ease. My airbag light started turning on all of a sudden for some unknown reason with the oem wheel. So i guess won't be much of a bother if I didn't do it.

I guess the only question now is the idea of having a 30yr old bag popping.

Ok, I installed my Momo prototipo today but am concerned about the tightening the nut on the shaft. Momo says it needs to be 50 Nm (36lb/ft). When tightening the nut I found I was turning the front wheels to the right, so not sure I reached the correct torque. Has anyone else had this issue and how did they deal with it?

I put the wheel on the hub and secured it enough so I could use it to provide counter torque for the shaft nut.

I haven't done mine yet as i'm waiting for my horn lever part. But if you have a helper maybe ask them to hold the steering wheel while you torque it down?

Oh btw, I did more digging and found a post from someone that just folded the resistor onto itself and plugged it in the airbag plug. Then wrapped with electrical tape. No need to solder so looks like i'll be trying that method.

this is exactly what I did. No reason not to IMO and zero issues.

Ok will try that. The limited instructions say the put the hub on first and then the steering wheel. I'll try putting on the wheel and holding it while tightening it.

For those with a 1990 pre-airbag cars you don't need the contact part 964.652.104.00, as it is already there. The photo show the original part in place. I've purchased a new one so will try flog it on ebay.

Edit- Disregard didn't realize your location. LOL. I have it on order from a local dealership and it's taking forever to be received I was just looking at other options.

I put a breaker bar (or any long metal bar) through the wheel spokes and hold/push that as I tighten the torque wrench. Easier than trying to hold the wheel.

So, to be clear, you did this instead of getting connectors off of a clockspring and soldering them together?
No need to populate the missing terminal?

Thanks

2.8 ohm, 1/2 watt and make it look exactly like the picture above and secure with electrical tape.

getting ready to install a prototipo on my 993 and I'm intrigued by the resistor directly into the orange plug. My question relates to the black connector next to the orange connector in the picture. what does that connect to (or did)? Also, a previous point about the passenger side airbag, is that affected by this modification/jumper?

Thanks

Marc

@s2racer I just did this to my 1993 964. The resistor into the orange plug is as easy as it looks. The black connector is the positive feed to the horn buttons on the oem steering wheel that you no longer need, since the positive feed will now be supplied through the signal assembly and new arm.

Passenger side airbag is not affected at all.

I documented the process here: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...l#post17938220
