Jeff. Change your engine mounts to wevo mounts with black pillows. And hacking from the engine is not an issue. Alternative to wevo are 993 oem mounts. Also fine then to jack from the engine. This is the best way to get the car on stands. Don't forget the use jack blocks at the jack points.
I’m a relative newbie here. If I want to just lift the rear of the 964 and place 2 jack stands on the rear for servicing what is the best way? Can I use a jack on the front jackpoints and and place rear jack stands and then do same on opposite side? Is there any chassis bending issues here?I don’t want to use the engine point as the owners manual says not to do this.
Thanks all.
Jeff
I like to use Jackpoint Jackstands for this. You can jack from the jackpoints, and safely get the car on two or four jackstands in minutes. http://www.jackpointjackstands.com/
Those bars appear to be not very tall; I am surprised because you normally want a tall bar in order to be stiff against bending. Do they actually touch the car underside at the point where the jack is applied?

These are actually great. Used them for years. They are sturdy and no, mine do not touch the underside of the car. They do not bend.
i'm sure this product is not new to anyone here, but quickjacks are so damn convenient. i realize it limits some side access, but that never seems to be an issue on porsches really. i have 2 sets of blocks for the lift, but have placed wood 'risers' in the recess areas to allow it to slip under low cars and create enough gap that lift pucks can be used without the blocks. if you want to use the blocks, getting the car up higher initially is necessary. no lifting from the tire well or the engine case and no running around placing the jackstands in each location. i don't think i've touched my sets of jackstands since i had this lift.
the last pic shows the lift in the 'low' position.
