I can vouch for the seller. Andy is one cool, stand-up dude.
I know buying an old Porsche can be stressful, but count yourself lucky getting to by a car from a person like this!
We had dinner once when I flew out to the West Coast. It was blast; we traded Porsche stories for hours until our wives had enough.
This car has spent many years rolling up and down HWY1. That's got to make a car happy?
If any of his good-natured vibe rubbed off on his car, then it's a keeper for sure.

Wow - thanks for the kind words Udo! Not sure I can live up to those standards, though!
Ilko - thanks very much for the tip on the code, I will PM you.
There are no oil leaks (which I tried to communicate, unsuccessfully I guess, in the first post on this thread by saying "no leaks").
On the engine rebuild question, whether full rebuild or top-end only, that is a little more difficult for me to answer, because I have absolutely zero mechanical skills. TRG started doing the rebuild and at first did the top end only. Through the course of the rebuild, they eventually decided also to take the bottom end apart to make sure everything looked good, which it did. I was not charged for this additional work (so is not reflected in the receipts totaling $21,750 that I have).
I don't have the mileage written down on the TRG invoices for the rebuild - they will have a record in their computer of what the mileage was - but certainly less than 3,000 miles ago.
Also, as I have stated in some prior threads, the tires are almost new (I got 20,000 miles from my last set), with maybe 3,000 miles on them. They look new, let me put it that way. The battery is also almost new.
With the next owner's permission, I will be happy to report back about what the car ends up selling for. I have a couple of responses already indicating what the bottom-end of the market is, but I don't want to publish that because I want to respect everyone's privacy.

Forgot to answer the question about the A/C. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. I had Jay at TRG take a look to see if it was anything simple - according to him, all the various components seem to be OK, so he thinks it is the central control unit, which apparently runs about $1,200 new (I have not confirmed this). Since I am very, very confident at this point that whatever additional money I spend on this car will have a zero return, I have come to the conclusion that I have put enough money into the car. For me personally, I have NEVER used the A/C so don't need it. That may not be true for the next owner, but it is for me.
