Don't know how it is now, but when I lived in Detroit ... cars not made in the USA were widely rejected and hated (e.g., the Shell station near UAW headquarters on Jefferson would not sell you gas !)

Agreed. I haven't really heard of anyone getting any grief over the brand they drive in a long while. Maybe some gentle ribbing, but not harassed or vandalized.
