Above, the big is about be pulled over the groove and same on the wheel end. No ties required. It is a tight fit.

Thank you so very much for the picture !!!!! Truly gives perspective . Is this boot filled with grease for protection ?
The bottom of your car is so clean I am embarrassed- even though I always have the front plastic cover ….. got some work to do

I presume if it’s that clean and no cosmoline, it was dry ice blasted.

No grease inside the steering boot. Their job is to keep the dirt out.

And to the question of cleanliness. I just cleaned the underside by hand, sprayed with underside grey paint. When I rebuilt the suspension the wishbones etc were cleaned with a wire brush on a drill, then clear coated.
