Smile Door pocket lid removal **Sorted**

Gents,

Last night I removed my door trim to fit leather door handles and door pocket lids.

To remove the door pocket lid I popped off the spring clip (if thats what its called?) that retains the bracket at the end of the door (the bracket which moves up and down as the pocket is raised, lowered).

However, I lost the clip!!!

The clip is the one shown in the photo. Please ignore the red circle.

Does anyone know what the skip is called and where I can buy one?

Thanks

Chris

Hereabouts one may find such things at the hardware store; they sell all manner of threaded fasteners and such.

Thanks Fuch

Ive ordered a big pack of mixed clips including "star clips" as these seem to be called by some sellers.

I'll let you know if none fit!

Gents,

Ive hit another snag with my door pocket lid replacement. Just how many problems can I get in such a "simple" job?

The metal rod that conects the pocket lid to the door pushes through a black plastic moulding. Within the moulding is a sprung loaded retaining pin which allows the pocket to be sprung open and closed. The retaining pin has a hole in the centre which I presume the rod locates into, however the spring is covering the pin and preventing this. Im not sure how it should work? Does the spring just push down somehow to allow the road to be inserted?

Its really puzzling me as there isnt any access and ive tried quite a few ways to get it to fit?

Any help would be appreciated

Chris

Hi Chris,

The white plastic retainer should be through the roll pin inside then the spring goes on over this retainer and pushed down. Then the chrome bar (long piece) slides through the first slot (opposite the side with holes in,) then the top hole of the white retainer, and the spring should be held in place once pushed though to the other slot and the star clip attached.

Hope thats what you ment? I have one broken down in front of me if I can help any further.

Cheers

Andy.

Thanks Andy ,

So the spring has to be compacted to enable the chrome bar to be slotted through and the star clip attached?

I dont suppose you could post a pic of the components could you? Its hard to see how they all fit together when its assembled!

My big pack of star clips are too big, so im going to have to find one small enough. Do you have a spare?

Don't have a spare clip, not even one on this. Yes the spring needs to be compressed. Sorry poor photo.

Andy.

Hi Chris have you sorted it yet?
Was able to get a few star clips today so have 4 spares, not exactly the same, but do the job fine.
PM an address and I'll get them sent off to you.

Cheers
