All sorted now thanks lads

Couple of things to note if anyone ever has the same problem.

1. Dont do this work in a dim garage. I didnt even realise that there was an access cover on the door hinge until I removed the door trim into the kitchen!

2. To allow the metal bar to be inserted through the white retainer move the retainer and its associated spring to the bottom of the hinge and the push down the front edge of the spring with a large flat blade screwdriver. Once the bar is half way through the white retainer depress the rear of the spring and tap through with a hammer.

3. Star clips are very hard to find in this size. The smallest you can buy is 1.5mm, so take care when removing the originals!

HTH!

Hi Chris, glad you've sorted it, were the clips of any use?
