I took some photos of my ashtray but I'm not sure if they'll help with your mounting issue. I'm not brave (or smart?) enough to remove the entire assembly to get a picture of the mounting of the bulb. If someone knows how to safely remove it I'll try to take more pics.
maybe if you just take the ash cup out, just as you do when you empty it
I took pictures with it out but the bulb nor it's mount are visible. There is only a rectangular slot through which the light shines. I can't get the camera in a position to photograph what is inside the slot.
Here's a pair of (out of focus) pics with and without the ashtray carrier.
The light shines through a circular hole in the dash, with a very tight width between it and the bottom of the CCU. Can't really get access to it without pulling the CCU.
