Default Immobiliser problem

All,

Am having intermittent issues starting my car. Seems to be after I have driven it...parked up....and go to start it. Car is dead on the key. Its almost as if the immobiliser while its been disengaged (ie: red light is not beeping following the usual protocol) the car wont start.

Happened a few times.....again this morning....faffed around a few times and eventually after leaving it for a few mins.....the car started.

Anyone had similar isssues? could this be an easy fix or do you think the immobiliser is old style and needs to be replaced?

Its not great going out and not having confidence that the car will start again!!!

Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

BU

Hey I just posted a similar thread, lets hope we can find the answer. Do the lights and gauges all still go on but there is no starter?

hi mate....yes i just saw your thread....what is interesting is yours wont start...but then when u drive it...it starts again no problem.

Just reading the streather guide...few things to consider...faulty starter is looking more likely.

All lights and gauges come on fine....rear blower initiates as well (as i had it switched on 1)...just clicking turning the key......am certain another pump is also operational (not sure if this is abs pump) as there is a consistent wherrring everytime i turn the key.

I will let you know when I find out.

Sounds very similar. Kind of embarassing to have to bump start a Porsche; good luck with your work. If I find anything I will keep you posted also.

I had the same issue... turned out the starter motor had packed up... worth checking the immobiliser first though... Is the immobiliser stock? Has the starter motor ever been replaced?

I have had the same problem aswell. Always seems to be when the weather starts to cool down. I have assumed it's the starter motor. it always clicks, when i turn the key, and after 2 or 3 goes it has always started.......so far.

I guess she just doesn't like the winter
