Heres another possibly affordable M5 up for grabs!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2608442714...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

You can load them with all the people and kit you want, and still leave most 'sports cars' for dead if you wish! (just before you stop to fill up again)!!

I have tried the last Audi RS4, thats awsome too, but way to easy to drive at very anti-social speeds!!
Would love to try the RS6 too, would have to be the Avant for me (so I can introduce the dog to proper G-forces) - he's not allowed in the 964!!!!

Tempted... yes.

Been thinking of F-cars... tried a 996TT x50, Lostus Exige, BMW m3.

Can't find what I'm looking for... not sure what that is, but something that would have me thinking of it on the way home. And that's difficult when you drive a 964 home. None of the above have left an impression after driving home.

Trying a caterham with 6-sp sequential next (220hp ver). Who knows... maybe that's what I've been looking for.

For hauling people and going to not so nice areas I have a Saab turbo that can take some abuse... though an m5 would be nice, I would care too much about that car.

sifly - just saw your thread on PH on the m5..u said it was offered at 6k.....but u got it for 4k.....did u find something major wrong or was it "if u dont ask u dont get" strategy. The guys on the M forum seemed to think 6k was a bargain so your deal was a super bargain!!! haha

thanks, nice....but as i mentioned above japan for sports editions all left wingers (no laws here re LHD or RHD), & all domestics here tend to be low milers....so once it landed would be difficult ownership that is to say could never be resold or traded, eg this 92 M5 (were still hand assembled then ?) pricey at over 1 million jpy but 64,000km & LHD.

thats why older japanese sports domestics great for export....but importing into nihon-land usually a no-go.

The trouble with type specific enthusiasts forums is that most people on them believe that their pride and joys are worth a bit more than they actually are. I finally got the M5 for what I believed it should be worth, minus an amount for fixing the bits n bobs that required attention, mainly some tyres and brakes (not cheap)!! Minus a few more £ as security for any other mindings that I might make!! The easy bit is buying a cheap performance car, it's the running and maintenance that can really bite you in the *** if you are not carefull!!

I came from a 911, 3.2 G50 - Audi RS4 - Never again for a Euro Box. The 911 was so cheap in comparison as against the Audi.

Really was a case of planning what I would do to the 911, as against the "W.T.F will the Audi cost us this service"....

Air Bags - AU$ 4,800 per side!
Brakes - AU$ 4,200 (Front disc's & all round Pads + Geo)
Wife loved the Audi till she remembered the "Good old days" of the 911.....

Having just compared a 993 v 964 we are going back to the 964 as a D.D. & life keeper ....... At LAST!

I have the 'modern bug' at the moment too, having recently brought an 03 RX8 with 29k miles on the clock for a knock down price of £4k ....... I gotta tell you guys, this is one sweet handling car, the only downside is the engine sounds like washing machine on fast spin!

I m going to put both the RX8 and the 964 up for sale shortly as I have an urge for either a BMW CSL, Lotus Elise S2, or a Clio V6 version 2. I know that I'll probably regret selling the 964 after 9 years of ownership and all the work I've had done to her, but there are so many great drivers cars that are really affordable at the moment and I fancy getting my butt into a few of them!!!!!!

Cheers,

Mark 90 C2

We picked up a retired Spec 944 for track use, love it!

We have also test drove a Lotus Elise S, and I got to take a lap in a Lotus Exige, both are very tempting!

Our last car purchase was to trade off our Boxster for a Lexus IS350.

So yea we are tempted everyday!!

Agreed the RX8 seems like such a reasonable great all rounder. Trouble is it's too reasonable if it were to replace as opposed to coexist with a Porsche Seriously though totally get that choice!
