Default 430hp @ 7600rpm, its alive!!!

Rumor has it that Gamroth (Rothsport) has created a living, breathing, slide valve throttle body monster.

Should we press Weiner to post the video?

Steve...please do.

More info please

I really want an air-cooled, N/A, 400hp 3.6 or 3.8 with good street manners. Other than 9M is anyone building stuff like this?

Ditto the Gamroth.

The door for consulting, sage advice and smooth transactions with Rothsport would be through Steve Weiner of Rennsport Systems.

400hp may be pushing it for a tractable street engine (and real life longevity); we will be building a slidevalve 3.8 at around 370hp next year for Claudia and expect at least a 100 track-hour engine.

I saw the engine mentioned above as the intakes were being installed. It is indeed a thing of beauty and joy.

JMHO,.....

A real honest-to-God 400BHP 3.6 or 3.8 is a race engine making best power from 5K to 8K and requiring close-ratio gears to perform properly. These will idle well, but soft and a little jerky until over 4K. Not a well-mannered street engine. Such things also need race gas which isn't inexpensive, either.

Now, 350-370BHP IS attainable using the proper (expensive) components that can be streetable with the right choice of camshafts.

Thanks Steve - and which camshafts would that be?

I wonder how many engine builders (at this level) would publish proprietary information. A lot of little secrets never make it out to the public in this industry.

Hi Nick,

LOL,..Those are part of the details that I share with my clients. We use several custom profiles, depending on each person's needs.

Right, of course! I have to admit I find camshaft selection to be quite challenging for a street car, as it's difficult for some with limited experience (me!) to understand what the drivability compromise would mean, and you can't really quantify that...

In any case, I would love to hear more about this engine!

There really is quite a bit to selecting camshaft profiles and many variables must be factored to achieve the expected result. JMHO, but this is why one should use the services of a professional to avoid making expensive mistakes.

You would never believe the things I've seen people do in this regard,......

This 3.9 engine has slide-valve injection, KMS Engine Management, custom cams, custom heads with a LOT of changes, 1 7/8" headers and our own race muffler system. We tried megaphones but they only made a 2 BHP difference,...

It did make 325 lbs-ft of torque at 6200 which I thought was pretty good.
