Default 964 oil help please

Hi guys new to the forum
I have a 90 c4, took her for a short drive at the weekend and when putting her in the garage she left a trail of oil into the garage and was loosing quite a bit when running this stopped when the engine cooled down.
She had the typical 964 leaks but hardly anything before. Before I go for the dreaded rebuild where would you suggest I start looking.
cheers

Could you give us a bit more detail, as in where the oil is coming from and so on, does it only leak when the engine is running?

Kinda need to know what area it looked like it was coming from? When I had this problem, it was leaking at the oil tank sending unit gasket (you can see it up in the forward end of the right rear wheel well). When the oil got thoroughly hot in the tank and expanded and you shut off the engine, the maximum amount of oil was back in the tank and the level would reach that unit. It would become a gusher then. Might be something completely different on yours, but that was my issue.

Hi Johnny

If its engine oil, (i assume it doesn't smell like cat **** so its not PS fluid) remove the engine undertray , put degreaser in a spray bottle, clean the underside of the engine with a stiff brush and degreaser, jet wash it off and take it for a run.

Then look to see where its coming from. the car has lots of pipes and places that could leak, that don't result in a rebuild...

Mine leaked a little oil from the powersteering pump lower pulley, onto the right heat exhanger, dripped onto the undertray and out one of the little holes. New inner and outer camshaft seal and belt and an oil change was all that was needed.

Is it a daily driver? Mine is and my oil tank ended up with pin holes due to rust. Oil ran out in a stream from the tank area. The hole was on the forward side. I had to replace the oil tank. Just one experience. Good luck tracking it down.

Hi Johny

Sorry to here that, but could it still be dripping from the top of the engine and finding its way down? For example the oil sender which sits on the rear top of the engine and is prone to leak.

Just trying to think of the least worse options if you know what i mean...

Power steering high pressure line ?

But that should be leaking PS fluid with a reddish colour?

It is the "Pressure line" for the power steering, #14 part # 964.347.447.04 in the picture below.
