Default Stereo woes....

Finally getting around to putting in a new headunit in my C2 and have some questions.

1. From my antennawire there's a small black wire hanging beside it, is that for the antenna booster? Should I connect +12v (ignition) to it?

2. I dont currently have a permanent 12v feed (only ignition) so all radio presets are lost each time I turn off the key. Where is the best way to steal 12v feed from?

3. Under my front passenger seat I have what looks like a the end of an antenna wire just laying loose....and idea what it might be?

New Alpine headunit sounds great btw....just need to get the above issues resolved and enjoy it.

#1 - Yes

#2 - Not sure.

#3 - Did your car have a stereo before? My car has an amp under the passenger seat. I'm no longer using it since I have a new head unit. Maybe its the connection from the head unit to the amp.

Hi,
1) The Antenna's black lead (booster switch) connects to Alpine's amp or Antenna wire (blue or blue/white)
2) In the dash are two positive wires:- Red / Black Always-On Positive This is connected to Alpine's Yellow wire and preserves the head-unit's clock and preset memory.
- Red, Switched Positive. Connect to Alpine's Red.
3) Could be the OEM Head Unit to OEM AMP DIN lead. Can you take a picture?

Full details including mapped Alpine/964 wiring diagrams are here

Problem 1 was solved by starting the stereo up and finding a weak radio station and simply briding +12v to the little black wire => Instantly perfect reception.

Problem 2 was solved by changing fuse #38 that was broken for a new one. That made one of the red wire previously not connected supply constant +12v.

Picture of the loose wire for question 3 will come once I've fed the hungry kids. Thanks ! :-)

No idea what that wire is, and yes looks just like an antenna lead.

To remove the seats,
Put the seat all the way up and to the rear.
Remove the 2 or 4 6mm Allen bolts and flat washers at the front in the seat tracks
Move the seat all the way to the front.
Disconnect the battery
Remove the rear Allen bolts in the rear tracks.
Tilt the seat backwards against the rear seat and carefully remove the black rectangular power seat wire bundle connector. (pictured, black with the white label)
