Project Shrek -Brakes, wheels and more
After a year and 10K Kms, the brakes that I knew were dodgy to start with came to the top of the list. I measured the 4 discs and all 4 were below the minimum thickness.
I had sourced 993 calipers, adapters and non drilled discs (928 front, 964 rears).
Fitting was a 2 day job, including re-making the hard lines in the suspension that were all seized solid in the calipers. Bleeding was easy enough, and the result is a nice hard pedal, very good modulation and a factory look that no one would know is not the original setup. Perfect for Shrek.
Next up, I fitted the Ruf spoiler module, that eliminated the endless up-and-down in daily comute.
I also found the source of a nasty grinding noise in left turns: The power stering fluid was too low and the pump would run on empty for a few seconds. I filled it back up again and will need to progressively purge it, as what was inside is anything but PS fluid. Crude oil is a better definition.
To finish it off, I got the BBS wheels back. What does the audience think? do they look better than my original look 7&9 D90s?
And a few pics after a quick wash.

Laker, I wish I had shot pics of the work, but it was a looong 2 days, and I was so dirty from the work, I could not handle a camera at the same time.
Kai, not one busted knuckle. A few scratches and sore muscles the day after though.
Bill, I know it is the consensus, but if I am satisfied with the current function, what more is there to gain? The pedal travel is not noticeably longer. I must say that what I removed was in such poor condition, anything is better.
Jetta, yes that is a kid seat. I commute with the car and pick up my son frequently. He loves it.
Soo, BBS or D90?

While not a fan of the D90's, I would choose the D90's because the BBS look like they would be hard to wash and keep clean. The D90 is a simpler pattern, less nooks and crannies for brake dust.
Edit: The brake upgrade sounds great. Please show us some photos when you have a chance.

slave/master ratios are a good guide to pedal feel, the higher the # the softer the pedal. All performance and race 911-997 have a slave/master ratio in the low 30 to high 20 range
You are currently at 49.8
I have tried as high as 50 for short periods of time, at this ratio insufficient fluid is moved during a panic stop
stock 964 is 43.2
stock 993 is 37.3, this is where you will be if a 993 m/c is used
964RS is 32.8
911 thru '83 is 35.2
993RS is 33.7
