I had a couple wires that looked like that after finding some torn boots. I replaced the wires using some replacement boots and the rest of my good boots. It's a good idea to take a multimeter and makes sure you read 3ohm on all the wires end to end...just to be sure.

I think what happens, since you only need 4.5 turns to screw the ends on, is that when you put the wires back on, if you inadvertently turn a half turn counter clockwise instead of a half turn clockwise, the wires can back themselves out causing that issue...they corrode and then fail

Been searching on a consensus to this question and stumbled upon this thread.

I am considering swapping over to new coils as mine are original Beru from what it looks like on the car and no records in having these changed in 25 years (it does have only 66K miles on it). I am in the process of changing plugs as well and might do a valve adjustment while I am in there, so might as well do coil wires especially if the price is right...

The cheapest I found the Bosch 09264 wires are on Rock Auto: (I know they don't have the grommets but can reuse stock ones) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...ktemplate=true

The cheapest NGK EUC030 I found was on ebay for around 320 shipped to CONUS.

The Beru wires are all well over 400 which seems a bit pricey for plug wires to me.

Any reason not to buy the Bosch ones? I got the Bosch FR-5 DTC plugs. I don't plan to modify the engine. Just want to make sure it runs well and healthy.

The rock auto Bosch are not at all like factory, the ends do NOT unscrew which makes adding the grommets nearly impossible

Do you know that for fact? I see the pictures they look different, but if they don't unscrew that's not ideal.

Cool, thanks for saving me a headache. I'll keep looking for other options or just get the NGK's

Older thread, I know.

Did we confirm... are the EUC030 wires the correct ones for a '92+ 964?

Also, do they come with ends/connectors, or are they wires only?

I have the NGK wires and If I had to do it again I would go with the Beru just for the easier install. They look to be about the same price:

Would be cool if NGK included the gasket for the price they are asking. I do like NGK though.

Thanks. I saw that link. But if you click over on that page to "Fitment", it specifically listed only '89, '90 and '91 964's. I don't know why... as far as I know, nothing in the ignition system was changed from '91 to '92+...?

As far as I can tell, the Beru's are $150 more expensive than the NGK's... so almost 50% more...?
