Default Best Enhancement - Rate Yours! RS Shifter?

Just got my Euro RS Shifter...yes, its the 28 mm higher, 10mm closer to driver, and 10 mm shorter throw (62 to 52mm). Driven it since Friday...I'm totally impressed...silky smooth, shifting effort--easy....tight, very little movement (left to right)--slotted feel. It is my best enhancement?

Here's my ratings....Scale #1....worthless; #5....take it or leave it; #10...must do.

Of course, price, performance considerations should be factored in...

My enhancements to date to my stock RSA:

RS Shifter: Rating of 9. Cost of $165 drives the rating along the combination of the other enhancements...completes the car thus far...truly matches the solid P-Car's character!

PSS10. Rating of 8. Very satisfied! I'm at euro RS height...ride at 3, just a little stiffer than stock. I like the adjustability for height/dampers, but the cost is high for a street use car. For other folks in my situation...KW1s may be a better match for the current purpose of the car (near stock, street, extreme-sorted car)...

Wong Chip. Rating of 10. Extremely satisfied! Cost of $375 is nothing compared to the noticeable improvement in idle, more refined sound from my primary-by pass exhaust...smoother acceleration (before I could hear 4k rpms, now I've caught myself thinking was a lot lower while driving it...and the mileage has improved 10%.

Primary By-Pass: Rating of 6/7....cheap ($325 Fabspeed)....I like the sound (rumble at acceleration...sounds like a Porsche and still sedate at cruise), like the lower weight...glad I kept my primary muffler, may go to a different combination later....200 cell cat with primary and secondary muffler?

How do you rate your enhancements?

I'm taking a strategic pause with my enhancements. I just plan to drive it for now...drive train is strong...everything stock with newer clutch...LWF/RS Clutch maybe down the road if I get bored...

By the Way...any recommendations for a good car cover? For Weather (we get a lot of rain here in Richmond)...breathable...scratch resistant (soft inside)...good fit for a RSA...want it for covering when I drive the RSA to work...

New motor mounts made drastic improvement on the way my car handles. Sagging mounts means the engine is moving around while driving...not good in a 911.

New mounts really tightened up the ride and a greatly improved the stability of the car.

I'd give it a 10.

I also like my Wong chip and $50 muffler shop bypass. I'll give those 10s also.
I'll give my rotated tachometer (red line @ 12 o ' clock) an 8. High marks because it it's easier to see red line and was a free mod, but it means my turn signal arrows are pointing North and South....

In order of importance:

1. KW V3s: Rated 9/10, great handling, gets rid of the SUV ride height
2. Carbon Fibre Front Strut Brace: 8/10, improves feel and rigidity
3. Club Sport Steering Wheel: 8/10, nice, thick leather, feels great
4. Steve Wong Chip: 8/10, improves response below 3K rpm
5. Primary Muffler Bypass: 7/10, could feel the weight loss, lovely sound above 5K rpm. Would rate higher except for drone around 2-3K rpm.
6. 964 Turbo Big Reds: 7/10, look fabulous, feel great. Would have rated higher if they had an AL hat, and also 'cos the stock brakes are so good
7. Fire Extinguisher & mount: 7/10, for peace of mind, and finding a nice looking, black item to match the interior which is easily accessible
8. Various aesthetic items: 6/10: (a) changed yellowed headlamp lenses; (b) clear indicator lenses; (c) internal alloy door pulls to replace cheap plastic items; (d) leather cup holder in place of cassette rack
9. Alpine head unit: 6/10, great sound, iPod compatibility

NZ...

OEM **** and boots fits...plenty of boot to accommodate the increased height of the shifter....I actually think it looks better. And feels more natural...the height is just right...

It's dark now...will try to take a pic tomorrow...

On any of the customer cars over the years, or the three 964s I've owned it's all been about a good shock/spring package, track worthy brake pads/fluid, and decent tires. If you don't have a limited slip, then add that. Else they're really competent as-is.

(Have the RS shifter on the faux 993RS, and it doesn't matter in the least to me. Figure 15 gearchanges on a typical lap at Thunderhill.)

I've done so many things so it's hard to pick one, but I can agree with you about the RS-shifter - low cost and much better.

But one thing that really transformed the car on track was my 996 Cup LSD. The traction you get out of the corners was like night&day compared to no LSD.

1. KWV3 and appropriate track biased geo because it makes the car faster round the corners.
2. RS flywheel and clutch because it makes the car come out of the corners faster.
3. RS motor mounts because the noise makes it sound like it's going faster.
