What kind of presoak product do you use?

I'm wondering what kind of product will safely strip the wax without messing with the clearcoat...then clay, polish, wax/seal, etc..

I use Valet Pro snow foam with a bit of Meguaires APC mixed in and sprayed through a foam lance. Leave for 5 mins and then rinse off.

If working by hand ive been recommended to use washing up liquid to strip residual old wax etc before claying.

This should then be put back in the Kitchen cupboard and never used on the car once detailed!!!

To be honest though normal car shampoo works as the claying process strips off all of the old polish and wax etc.

Also, I didnt realise any 964s would have been painted with a clear coat. I thought they were all painted with a two step paint process and no clear?

Sorry to say, there is no clearcoat on Guards Red.

It was like a 28 step process to paint a 964, but in the end it was still just single stage.

I used Mothers California Gold Wash followed by clay, then Maquires 105 Ultra Cut, then Adams Fine Machine Polish, and finally Adams Machine Super Wax.

as far as I know on this vintage Porsche all solid colors were single and only metalics were two stage.

FWIW, I don't think they did a three stage.
