I think he's referring to the fan shroud aka alternator/cooling fan housing.

Unless he means the engine shroud that goes over the top of the motor, but that would definitely require quite a bit of work to remove (remove intake manifold, etc.).

yes, joking about pulling the shroud.

hopefully, your pins aren't frozen in place. If they are, try some penetrating spray first.

Just need to push them out enough to grip the end w/ pliers. You'll need to hold the strap to that the pin is centered in the opening - otherwise the step in the pin catches on the strap.

shot it penetration oil, still can't get it out. Out of frustration I cut the broken restraining strap so I can grab that pin with narrow nose pliers and yank it out. Still won't move.

I'm I missing something here? It just pulls straight out, no?

Hats off to ToSi I too was stumped when reaching this point. Is this a great place or what!

Manipulation of the strap while working is indeed the key. If the pin doesn't move in 5 seconds try (the strap) in a different position or jiggle it simultaneously. Once you have about 5mm out go after it with your needle nose. May require more manipulation even then too.

On the passenger side, I found I could use a right-angled pick and work it just between the shroud and the fitting for the pin and work the pin out just enough to grab with some small pliers.

On the drivers side there is lots of access. I did use a screwdriver and wedged the strap open a little and then used a hook-shaped pick to push the pin out. Easy !!

Now for lots of clean up and taking parts to the platers !!!
