Default Will Cheap PIWIS Cable Work for 964 Diagnostics

I just bought a 964 ('91) - and air bag/seatbelt light is again lit after being reset during PPI. Does anyone know if a generic "cheap" PIWIS cable (with USB connection) along with a generic "cheap" 19 pin round adapter cable will work for checking codes and resetting indicator lights (e.g., air bag/seatbelt)? Here are links to what I'm looking at

I know it looks sketchy but the two cables and CD with software (I assume) is only $70 total. I found several past posts on this topic but no definitive answers. Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks, confirms my suspicion. How about this OBDI kit:

Looks a bit more legit and still reasonable at $269. Anyone have experience with one of these?

I have one and it works fine with a laptop to do most things a Bosch Hammer can do. It resets fault codes fine but I do not have an airbag so can not test that part. It does adaptions which no other interface does appart from the hammer. Runs with Scantool software.

The team who do it are Renlisters so drop them an email.

Yes, the kit can do all of those things, and works with all systems on the 964 EXCEPT for the PDAS locks on the C4. That is a Hammer only function.

Plus the guys that made it are devilishly handsome and remarkable citizens. :-P

Unfortunately for me, but besides the PDAS Locks, this Scantool will not read or reset any codes on the Alarm controller.

As far as I can tell, only a Hammer will perform this function, I've searched.

Just to be super clear, both are a limitation of the Scantool software, that has become a bit of a web orphan. It is no longer supported, and attempts to locate the original author have been unsuccessful.

The OBD1 interface makes the connection, but then it becomes a matter of speaking to the right systems in the car, which is in the software domain.

Durametric should support the Alarm module, but I can't get it to connect to the Alarm or Airbag modules.

I haven't had time to log a ticket with support

Good to know that the Ricardo/Tom kit will work for most systems (thanks guys for providing it), but looks like software (both Scantool and Durametric) has some limits including the air bag system, which was one of the systems is was needing. I'd be interested to know if Durametric solves this alarm/airbag issue.
