Default Claudia - AP Rotors, RS Carriers and 928GTS Brakes

The little car is virtually finished (waiting for the Heigo roll bar). Steve W. was kind enough to shoot some photos.

Here's a peek beneath her skirt. Front brakes are 964GTS Big Blacks over AP two piece rotors, you'll also see the bottom adj for the Bilstein PSS10s here.

These are mounted on 939RS/Evo wheel carriers (outfarkers out here in rural OK)...

This has been a comprehensive build and much learning/fun - I should have the car in two weeks!!!!

brakes look awesome...

you'll love the flexibility of the pss10s....I'm still playing with mine...trying a softer number on the front, keeping the back the same on the rear (#3 rear, #2 front) today...

BTW...got my entire interior steamed clean yesterday ($85)--adding to the steam clean of the underside when I got the car--very fresh...black is now blacker...

Are you going with a 3.8 RS build when you turn your attention to the engine?

The next phase will be a wide body 964 RSR clone; Gamroth will get his way with the (3.8L) engine, which will most likely include his slide valve induction system.

Steveie is thinking ca. 340hp in a very solid engine...with the short gearbox, this will be a potent combination.

Looking great, it is coming together nicely. can't wait to see the final result.

+1 on the steam clean.... especially since Claudia is the fastest color known to man.
did my wheel wells myself. It will make your new setup pop!

Steam clean wheel wells your self? Sounds like it beats scrubbing with simple green. How? What did you use for a steam cleaner? The brakes and PSS10's look fantastic! Especially in black!

Kai...wow...gotta love the direction you're headed...I'm only at the infatuation state with my RSA...if I fall in true love, a 3.8 may be in the cards for me, but it hard for me to think about breaking open ia strong engine with no leaks...Phil

What are the benefits of the RS carriers? Are they a direct swap, or do they require related components (tie rods, A-arms, strut, etc.) to be RS-spec too?

The utility sink in my basement has hot and cold, and is 5 feet from the hot water boiler/tank. It accepts a garden hose. I bought this thing for $20 and it works very well.
Full hot water in 35F degress January + "Purple Power" + light scrubbing <repeat 3x> = a lot of steam. Whether this technically a steam clean, I don't know, but it did the job
Kai's gear will totally pop against a red background. brake/suspension ****....

Nive project.

A question on the carriers / uprights. I have a set of these from an RS that are black - have you simply stripped the paint from them, or are they 993RS / Evo items that are alloy coloured originally ?

When the car is lowered to the ground, is the tie rod pointing upwards so giving some bump steer or did you fit a special tie rod ?

You know, five months ago we agreed on steel 964RS outfarkers - and then made the decision to run with the alloy 993RS/Evos, good call. One can see by the differing shock mounting bolts, the thicker plates, the alloy (doh!) and the ball end of the 993RS tie rod.

All of this gets the grometry right for the lowered car, and sets the stage for the future widebody work.

Good call highfield...

the 993RS wheel carriers are lighter and correct bump steer issues on lowered cars.

964RS/t steel upright

964RS/t top 993RS alloy bottom

the 993RS have special outer tie rods ends that are necessary and monoball inners that are nice to have but not necessary
993RS uprights and outer tierod ends

top stock outer & inner tirod
bottom 993RS outer and GT2 Evo inner mono-ball tierod
note the different geometry of the outers

993long arm, 993RS short arm

the 993RS parts are an easy swap to a 964,

potential issues that depend on the strut
the alloy uprights have a thicker strut mount(~1mm) than the steel uprights, some struts can accommodate this some can't
the lower bolt on th 993 is 14mm instead of the 964 12mm

the 964 speed sensors have to be used, the 993RS outer tierods have to be used

thanks Bill; I've researched you for quite some time and your comments helped me tremendously as I was able to discuss these things with Steve and Jeff.

I've never seen your tierod photo comparisons; big help. Steve indicates that the monoball inner end does indeed help steering feel ... we will see.
