When my cheapo battery from the previous owner goes, I'm going to replace with a non-acid battery like the Odyssey PC1220. I'm more concerned with acid leaking/venting than anything else.

I'm a big fan of Interstate batteries. Warranty is excellent, buy from a Firestone and if you have issues, return it to any Firestone for a new one (pro rated).

Optimas have not been great in my experience.

The Duralast batteries at Autozone are pretty good, too. My last one lasted 7+ years and wasn't driven daily.

I'm not a fan of Interstate batteries at all, I looked the Duralast batteries from Autozone (put on in my truck) and it's been excellent so far. Just picked up a Bosch battery for my wife's 996 from Pep Boys we'll see how it works out.

They have a life of around five an half years I live in Nevada at 6,500 feet in lake tahoe an it is very cold up hear an long winters they really hold up well. Vernon.

I use a Deka AGM battery in my 964. It's an exact fit, good quality and, best of all, AGM. With AGM, I don't worry about coming out one day and seeing battery acid spilled all over the luggage compartment. You also don't get that corrosion around the battery posts since there is no venting under normal circumstances.

Deka makes both a Group 48 and 49 size. The Group 48 part number is 9AGM48 and cost around $125 if I remember correctly.

well found out the interstate mtp93 will not fit even though interstate says it does. It's too long and wont squeeze in. I checked my battery and checked out ok on load tester so will leave for time being.

I don't have one in my 964, but I've used them through the years on other 911's and they've been very serviceable.

You should be using an MTP-91, it is slightly smaller. Just replaced my old battery with one last month.

That PC1220 is a $320 battery!

keep in mind guys that most batteries are made by one of maybe 3 companies.

I'm pretty sure autzone (duralast) and interstate are made by johnson controls.

I read something which said that the interstates have the least amount of warranty returns, but that could be bs.

I have the mtp 91, but would use a duralast gold just as readily.
