Default LIGHTWEIGHT SEATS

Am looking at reducing some weight, coincidently my side bolster has seen better days.

Would appreciate the help of fellow Rennlisters with pics of their lightweight seat solutions...

In an ideal world I'd like some reclining ones with red piping/ stitching but am open to all suggestions...

Pole positions look great ( albeit non-recling ) what other options exist?

Thanks

This is a nice option, FD Motorsports has group buy going.

Those are freaking gorgeous. To think, 2 years ago I paid 3/4 of what they want for them for my RSA seats...doh!

if you want reclining you are limited.

The seats above are a good option and I know someone who has them in the UK if you want to take a look.

Recaro make a similar option but big ££$$£$£

Agree that those seats do look good but where the likes of the Recaro PP and SPG win over those, is that they will be lighter and provide much more lateral support when cornering hard. I find mine (PPs) to be really comfortable on long journeys. The drawback is that even with sliders, access to the rear of the car is very restricted.

I put these in last summer and haven't regretted it for an instant. They make the whole car feel sportier to drive and actually are still very comfortable. They don't recline but do slide back and forth so the kids can still get in the back.
They are carbon fibre so weigh around 6.5kg each as opposed to the 20kg+ of the original. They are from Design911 who also do reclining versions.

Question is whether you want something light or sporty?

The Recaro PP or SPG (XL) are indeed significantly lighter than the standard seats, but as said make access to the rear seat area very difficult if not next to impossible.

When choosing reclining seats I'd choose them because of better looks and/or more sporty side bolsters.....weight reduction is rather insignificant as these recliners do weigh quite a lot. Sparco Milano is an example of such seats nect to the FD group buy seats.

While these are beautiful on their own, I feel they're a bit more Ferrari than Porsche...but that's personal I guess.

You could also opt to buy a very used set of non electric Porsche seats (light and cheap) on eBay and have them converted to leather turbo bolster seats in any colour leather/stitching you like. AP Car have such a service...I'm sure Southbound can do something similar.

Thank you for all the help gentlemen.

Pole positions are my first choice, after sitting in one at a meet on the weekend - They really are the bees knees. Unfortunately I take the car on summer road trips around Europe and need to put luggage in the back. Gutted

Here is an option Iv'e found, although they don't seem to fit 964s? Edit: They are the same seats as FD just upholstered differently...

Not cheap by any means, but if I wanted a reclining sports seat these would be first on my list :

I realize everyone's preferences are unique, but as a data point, I had Pole Positions in my old 73E, and I had a rollbar. My wife and I took the 73E on a 6000 mile road trip and she said that the PP's were the best seats in a Porsche that she ever sat in. We used soft (duffle-style) bags for our luggage, so with the PP's on sliders, we could manage to stuff our things in the area behind the seats. Now if you were interested in using the jump seats for passengers, the PP's would be out of the question.

I hope this helps.

Thanks but having seen the the Pole positions myself it's just not possible The gab between the seat all the way forward and the B-pillar is just not big enough to push through a full soft bag for a week or so get away ( I blame the Miss ).

Those folding Recaros are an option - just wish they weren't so expensive

Or how about these any experiences here Cobra Misano. I think I prefer the recaro folding ones and the rottec ones...

Keep the options coming thanks...

Just out of curiousity, would it not be possible to push soft luggage between the 2 seats into the back, one forward one all the way back, seems to me that should leave enough room.
