FD Motorsports recently offered a ROTtec group buy over on the 993 forum:

I like this pattern...the red stitching looks very classy.

Those look good also but not sure about the silver bits, might be tempted to paint those Guards red to match seatbelts, calipers etc...

Also the Recaro A8s seem to be out of production, rare ( apparently only 400 sets were made... )and therefore cost a fortune...

These look quite good...

Frank,

Check DESIGN 911 they do a carbon folding seat and I think they are what your after they call it a track rs recline on their site.
My mate has them in his 996 turbo and I have been on track in them and they are very good.
Have a search on their web site in the projects and the black 996 with gt3 wheels etc is Keiths.

Oh, fat and thin people fit in them not like the recaro spg's were I loose the feeling in my hips after a 100miles.

Gaz.

just double checked and the one's he has are gts's but the above look spg'ish but you can tilt them and clean the rear screen,,I'd buy em

Which is why I suggested the later CS Sportster seats

Or you could try Tooras (which look closer to a reclining version of the original RS seats)

As fitted to the RUF RK Studio Torino Coupe

Frank,

I've read the thread properly now,I fitted the one's in the 996 and we did do some fabrication work but after the arch liner job you did I am 100% you could get them in easy.
We used recaro runners and some small brackets but the job looks factory.

Have a go and get what you want and save £10000's and any seat will need a bit of tinkering with to fit in the factory positions.

Gaz.

ps, I think Keith has pictures of what we did, only basic stuff.

I just found a pair of A8 Recaros. How do they fit to the 964 - newbie question I guess.

Or I also found these, although red would be better...

A lot of the recliner seats that have been mentioned wont fit due to seat width, or have to be fitted higher in the car.
I tried the cobra misano and had to remove one of the adjusters and fit spacers, the seat was to high up.
Only an inch of head room, with a lid on there was no clearance at all.
I now have pole postions and there the best!

Thanks for that Russ. How would you suggest I go about finding out if A8 Recaros fit a 964 coupe?

Hey Frank, your heading is 'Lightweight Seats' and I think you'll also find a lot of the recliners are pretty heavy and the Recaro A8 seats are heavier than the standard 964 ones from what I can gather (which are bloody heavy to start with). Have a look a the design911 site as they have loads of options, many in CF that are loads lighter than standard, and supply all the runners etc to fit straight into a 964.

Good Luck.

Didn't realise they weighed so much. How much have you noticed the reduction in weight affecting performance?
