Default Wheel / tire size question

I have searched, but have not found an answer. I think this is an easy one.

will these wheels.

Front:
17x7.5
Offset: 52mm

Rear:
17x9
Offset: 47mm

Fit on my standard body 1991 964?
What is the best tire size to use?
Do I need spaces? If so what size?

Thanks in advance....

Dave

They should fit right in without problem...but

I have essentially the same wheels, built new, and they don't fit properly as the wheel halves (rear only) aren't right. The wheels fit, but do not fill the outside of the well and flat don't look right - and loose me 2" of track.

Do you know the measurements for the rest of the wheel build?

That is the size I have on my car with 225/45/17 front 255/40/17 rear, no spacers needed.

btw ... there is no need to tell us the diameter (ie 17") for checking offset, so just search for 7.5ET52 and 9ET47 and see what turns up in the threads here.

Thanks

KaiB - I do not know the measurements for the rest of the wheel build? I am looking at a set of Cup 1 wheels that are aftermarket, the seller told me he bought them at tire rack.

Steen - Nice car! That is the look I am trying to achieve. Are those Cup 1 wheels. I am looking for a set.

SML - Thanks for the link(s). Would you be located by chance at Smith Mountain Lake (SML)?

I also have Tire Rack reps (not Cup1 style you are looking for, TR replaced those with something they call Cup 4...uses 996 Turbo style cues - with edges).
That said, it's the same size and offset your are considering. Perfect fit.

Do you have a C2 or C4?
If a C4, I'd go with a 225 front to reduce understeer.
If a C2..you could go either way (205 or 225) depending on the handling balance you are looking for. Mostly street use right?

Thanks, yes those are Cup 1's but Mille Miglia replica's. The car is lowered to RS +5 m/m ride height with H&R Green springs and Bilstein HD dampers, alignment is also RS.

I don't know what I was thinking; it's the wheel half dimensions that define the offset. You're in a perfect fit. 205/45 or 225/45 front and 255/40 rear will serve you well.

225/45 front will serve him well on those rims w/255/40 in the rear.

^^^ I know.
However to be clear, look for a 50 aspect tire if you go 205. (not 205/45)

The factory specs for 17" are as follows:

RS America 7J-ET 55, 8J-ET 52
Carrera RS 7.5J-ET 55, 9J-ET 55

Up to a point different offsets can be used with the appropriate spacers.

Dave,

There is also supposed to be a 10 mm steering spacer installed when going from 16" to 17" . I assume this is what you are doing.

225 front, 255 rear should be no problem. 265 35 rear should work too. Bigger can fit but...
