Thanks everyone.

c didy - I would like to replace my cosmetically challenged D90's for a set of Cup 1 17's. I was not aware of the required spacer, so thanks for that. Is that spacer for the rack? Like a bumpstear kit?

KaiB - Thanks for the recommended tire sizes.
225/45 front
255/40 in the rear

My lead on the Cup 1 rims has not panned out, so I am looking for a set.

DC, if you have a bit of budget (you might be pleased!), call Alan Baylis at Fikse and ask about a set of FM-10s in 7.5"f and 9"r. Tell him I sent you if you would.

That's what I'm going to do "one of these days."

Has anyone gone from 225/255 to 235/275 on these exact wheels for track use. I am wondering if the extra width of the tire is off set by the wheel widths being on the narrow side for these tires. Also wondering if it increases understeer too much.
TIA

With the right offset up front, 235 is doable. A 275 in the rear really wants a 10 inch rim, strong negative camber, rolled fender and a shoehorn.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can get those sizes on the car. I am just wondering if it will be worth it. Will the extra grip from the extra width of the tires, out weigh the fact that the rims will be on the narrow end of optimal. I'm guessing that the tires are going to role around on the rims more, which may make turn in a little less precise. Also the bigger differential in size between front and back may promote too much understeer. Thats why I'm looking for someone thats done it and what their experience was.
Thanks,
Chas
