Default engine reseal

Hi just had my engine resealed a couple of weeks ago. The shopped used a kit I bought from vertex and everything seems good. cleaned block really good along with crank and other things to be done when doing a bottom end rebuild. my question is this though...when an engine is resealed, should the extra sealant that squeezes out from the sandwiching of the case halves, still be a bit gooey after a couple of weeks? I would think it would have hardened up by now even though its kinda sorta bagged up with plastic. before i put the time in to finish it i wanted to make sure this is all good so i dont have to totally tear it down again and correct it at this stage. thanks in advance for any replies.
