Default Becker wanted

Anyone know where I can get a Becker Indianapolis pro 7955 or 7952 from?

Im in the UK so UK-distributors preferred, anything considered though, plus Id definitely consider a 2nd-hand unit assuming it is in very good condition,

Thanks

When I lived in London I bought my Becker Mexico Pro from these guys:

Drivetime
22 Chiswick Lane, Chiswick, London W4 2JG

T:020 8995 7775

They were called something different then though, but I'm sure it's the same place. Worth giving them a call to see if they still stock Becker stuff?

Or these guys as they seem to have both available...

EDIT: Just seen that it's not in stock.

Becker no longer make a single din unit. (According to Becker anyway) I tried for a while last year but couldn't find anyone that had them in stock, so i called them directly and got told that they just don't do them anymore.

It may need to be a 2nd hand unit, i think i ended up getting a slightly older nav pro speed i think, i don't use the nav part (as an up to date garmin is far better anyway), but it kind of fits the era. (allowed me to launch the hideous Alpine)

Is the Becker install fairly simple or is there difficulty fitting with the Porsche ISO blocks? Ive bought a 2nd hand Mexico unit and ive had to buy the third ISO block. Havent fitted yet though.

A far as i know ISO is ISO so it can only be one way to install. I also have a aux feed to the glove box for an mp3. Additonally i ran a seperate live to battery with an inline blade fuse holder and it seems to have a secondary effect of reducing my battery drain a little.

I didn't want or need the out of date sat nav as i think a Garmin with up to date maps will be far better and easier to use.

Unkle, +1 on the Alpine unit.

2nd-hand looks like the way forward - if anyone has/knows of one for sale please let me know (Indianapolis pro or Grand Prix, not too keen on the Mexico)

Just received an Indianapolis Pro from ebay, looks great. Still need to figure out how to attach all the connectors to get it working though....if anyone can advise (keep it simple!) then please do so.

PS I'll be sticking the existing 'stereo delete' item I had installed temporarily onto the For Sale thread - one of the better ones Ive seen it is designed to look like vents rather than a flat panel

The Becker has 3 ISO blocks in the rear if your Indy Pro is the same as my Mex Pro.

The lower two are just standard ISO blocks. One for will be for power and remote etc and the other for speakers. For multi-changer and other aux functions you need the third ISO block which fits above these two. You can buy a Becker ISO (20 pin I think?) off eBay

Thanks chris- the other 'slight' issue I've found is that the unit appears very slightly too big to fit into the existing cage, am I missing something?

From memory, my Becker Mexoci doesn't actually have a cage and that it fitted in without one.

The porsche/becker cr range are also slightly bigger and I had to remove the cage to get it to fit even then its not a perfect fit.

If its the same as my Mex Pro do the following...

Remove all existing metal cages from the dashboard recess.

Push the Becker removal tool into the Becker and use it to "retract" the retaining brackets which are built into the unit.

Slot the Becker into dash recess and pull out the removal tool. This will allow the retaining pins built into the unit to extend and hold the Becker in place...

Phew!

Chris
