Jealous Drivers?
I have loved 911s for so long I really didn't even think about other people's reactions (especially my neighbors!)...I was so focused on finding the right car for my needs. It turns out, one of the biggest pleasures AND pains to owning a 911 is how other people react to the car. I get equal measures of big thumbs up, and also lots of people screwing with me. I definitely never feel like I'm flying under the radar.
Last night after my son's soccer practice and a round of disc golf with friends, I followed a friend to a local hangout. Lots of people sitting around inside and out. I parked right behind my friends pickup and get out with my son. Before I could walk 10 feet from the car a group of guys came over...questions started immediately, what year? why is the spoiler down? what tires do you have on it? These guys were totally drunk, but still behaving...
My friend couldn't believe the scene that my car created. We sat about 50 feet from the car and (he) watched people walk by and look in the window the whole night. He kept laughing and saying, "there's another one."
If I wasn't driving home, it would have made for a nice drinking game. Drink every time someone stops and looks in the window.

I am off Colesville Road inside the Beltway, behind Mrs. K's Tollhouse. Sure, we can take a tour sometime.
I got a kick out of reading the responses - sounds like it happens to most others. Don't worry, the thought of tickets/fines/points or injury/damage keeps me in check on the road. The only comment I forgot to make is that the typical confronter seems to be in a vehicle which is least capable of actually challenging a 964 in an honest track situation.
Be safe.
.. and for the not so bright.. have a t-shirt that read.. "O your too close to my tire" this is why I never got myself a bike.. I could not find the "male" version
aint this the truth...every one of these stories. It's funny when I got my first porsche(99 c4) I had accounted for everything except the "***** factor". Then, when I got my 964 I kinda forgot how it works. But yeah, my general question is who the fk would pull up to another car (any) rev their engine, floor it, slow down, look over, rev engine and repeat? Seriously I would love to see the thoughts going through those dudes minds. Is it too much rogaine? Miller Lite/Viagra combo? I just don't get it.
You will always run into those clowns on the road, just think about those idiots who sit in the left lane doing less that the speed limit.
The best place in the world to drive is Germany, the Germans have it wired. Where else in the world can you get fined for running out of gas on the highway (autobahn)? Keep right - Pass left is an enforced law. Another law that I liked was "you cannot impede the progress of another driver". I loved it when I was over there.
At some point all of the MD folks will be getting together....

Not to keep harping on Maryland drivers, but love the people on Rt. 270 that stay in the left lane, after passing on the right because they wont move over they put their brights on you? This as they pass the "slow traffic keep right" sign...

BTW, it was on Colesville Road that I saw that black GT3 ripping along (first post in this thread). I wouldn't ordinarily reveal someone else's license plate, but somehow I don't think he would mind - it was "MR NUTZ". I searched for him by that name on RL but got no hits. Ever see him?
very odd that you guys get such responses.
In the year and a half I've had my car, no one has wanted to race, tailgated, been noticeably uncourteous, asked questions, had much to say, etc.
Maybe its my area or maybe the 993 is more low key.
Also, since when are factory 964s getting to 62mph in 4.5 seconds?
