Default Potential 1994 Turbo-look purchase

I am very close to buying a 1994 C4 Turbo-look. It has a clean CarFax report and is being sold by a reputable dealer. However, I do not see the 491 option code and the CarFax report identifies the car as a 911Car2/RS AME/4trblk, which I assume means an RS America. The car is in fact a Carrera 4 and the dealer maintains that it is a limited addition Turbo-look and explained that the descrepency is because the car was a Porsche Exclusive model. Indeed, there is the 09991 code for Porsche Exclusive. Does this make sense to any of you?

A Jubilee perhaps is what he was referring too?

AFAIK, all factory widebodies would have a 491 M #

RSA was 2wd AKA Carrear 2

Carfax is not a reliable source. They list all 964 as Carrera 2/4 and don't decern between them.

09991 is I beleive is paint to sample... it could be anything really per special customer request. Should also have an IX in vin number.

It is proably a car worth having Porsche certify.

I believe if the 13th digit in the VIN is a 1 it means its a RSA

Yes if it is a 1994 c4 wide body it sounds like the jubilee edition 964. Commemorating 30 years of 911 production, they built 911 of these cars.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a Jubilee. I've got a '94 C4 Widebody as well, they made 267 for the US and Canada. Mine is not a Jubilee.

Jubilee was offered only during the '93 model year.
Under the hood is a sticker, the second row of numbers starting with 964 is the 'type'
What are the next three digits? For example 964 150 is ---> C4 Couple Turbo Look - USA
where 964 320 is a RSA

I think the 150/151 was the Jubilee code.

There is said Porsche werks built 12 addition Widebody C4s that were not part of the 911 Jubilees.

M096 code.

Otherwise I am not comming up with anything definitive on a Widebody C4.

According to the widebody registery there is no exact known count.

Although this is the quote from

Porsche GmbH

In 1994, the 964 version of the 911 what available in the US as several models. The Carrera 4 what only available in 1994 as a Widebody version - a turbo body without the turbo tail, on a 964 Carreras 4 chassis. There were no "narrow" body Carrera 4 made for the US in 1994. Precisely 238 of these special 911 were made for the US market, making it one of the rarest 964 models produced.

1994 should have a R in the vin and M718 opt code.

mail VIN to: m491@turbo-look.com and i verify the car as a true M491 or not

or check yourself here : CHECK for M491

By the way - all the long and wrong told rubbish in this thread : all true counts and facts to be found on my site

short :

964150 - modeltype for the 267 x C4 Widebody USA ( only Mj 1994 ) and RoW Jubilee (M096) ( Mj. 1993 AND 1994 ) and additional 190 x C4 Turbo-Look RoW ( Mj. 1993 AND 1994 )
all of them wear M491 in their datasheet - but not on the decklidsticker
09991 - is the code for the delivery to the exclusive department - nothing to do with Turbo-Look

This sums up what you need to know. Look for '964 150' on the sticker under the trunk lid. The option sticker will not show M491, which makes sense as the widebody was standard (not an option) for USA MY 1994 C4.

See pic below as an example.

It is indeed a widebody.

type 964 150 M718 pretty much confirms it.

this is how it decoded

M058 Impact absorbers, front and rear
M130 Control and indications in English lettering
M197 Stronger battery
M339 All-wheel drive
M403 Cast wheel "cup", 17-inch
M437 Comfort seat, left, electrically adjustable
M438 Comfort seat, right, electrically adjustable
M441 Radio preparation
M454 Automatic speed control
M481 Manual transmission
M484 Version for USA
M491 Turbo Look
M494 Additional amplifier
M534 Theft security system
M553 Version for USA, Canada
M562 Airbag, driver's side and front passenger's side
M567 Windscreen tinted, upper part darker coloured
M573 Air conditioner
M576 Without rear fog lamp
M602 Raised stop lamp
M650 Electrical sliding roof
M657 Power assisted steering
M685 Rear seats, split
M691 CD player "CD-2" with radio
M935 Seat covers, rear, draped leather
M975 Luggage compartment lining with velour carpet
M980 Seat cover - draped leather

Unidentified

IXD4
I231
I323
I434
I455
I464

Not sure why when you decode it shows M491 but lists 718 on the sticker.

Talking

I just ran the VIN number through Norbert's site, which identifies the car as a factory Turbo-Look! Thanks again!
