Default Heated front screen for 964 - heating system delete

Has anone fitted a heated front screen for a 964?

Is there an OEM one?
Does a 993 screen fit a 964 and did the 993 screen have an element?

I am looking to delete all of the heating items and wiring.

I have already got rid of the blower motor but figure if I can heat the screen I can then get rid of all heater items and also replace the heat exchangers.

A fair bit of weight saving.

Thanks

Lee

I've never heard of any 964s having a heated screen - and I'd be very surprised if any 993s did either. Porsche were quite behind on some of the comfort options back in the day when 964s / 993s were made - you only have to look at how dated the interiors look, particularly the 993 compared to other cars of the era.

I think Porsche were selling to a different kind of customer than they sell to these days - I'm not even sure your average 964 buyer would have thought a 964 should have had a heated screen back then!

Thanks Dave, I have found aftermarket ones:

Also I have heard that Porsche motorsport used a heated screen in some 964/993 race cars.

Heated screen was available as early as 1983 at least. I had one in my 930. Don't know if it was still available on the 964 though.

I can't remember, sad isn't it. I barely looked under the engine cover, boring engine and I didn't work on it. Heated worked OK, blower wasn't very efficient.

I sold it about tens years ago for a pittance, only owned it 18 months, I used it as a daily driver, abused it mightily (4 sets of tyres/2 clutches in that time), sorry I can't be of any more help

The prices of them "ricky evans" screens is for a porsche very cheap!
Has anyone ever fitted or used one?
Any idea of quality?
A 993 screen sub £300, never mind heated is fantastic, there easy £400+!

Ive never seen a heated porsche screen! That i can remember.

fitted a few of there screens and been fine, x2 996 and about x5 930 and a few evo 5/6/7 and all been ok... might be worth giving them a ring about 993 screens and find out if it has the trim on the glass that goes round the edge that the outer trim clips in too...bargain if it is, I pay £250 + vat for a 993 top tint trade!! you can go 964 screen to 993 x1 inner rubber x1 outer trim and teflon tape and bingo....
