I went with option "A" too. No brainer, pull the distributor, put it in a box, mail it and wait week. Reinstall distributor and drive.

No sht? You sent it to the guy in Atlanta? I need to replace my belt. I'm coming up on 50k miles and i'm pretty sure the PO only had the vent kit put in. Does he rebuilt the unit or just put in a new belt?

He goes thru it, cleans and lubes and inspects. If it needs anything major (over and above the $180 {$150 + return ship/insur]), he'll let you know. I wouldn't say mine had grittiness before I sent it off (belt was ok, just being cautious as no vent kit), but it definitely spun easier when I got it back about 10 calendar days after i sent it off.

You paid ~$750 to have your dual-distributor rebuilt? Did that come with lube?

Mark Cohen did mine. It hadn't snapped, but I wanted it replaced for peace of mind. When I went to reinstall it I had some trouble getting it to fit because of the new o-ring. I called him and he worked me through it. In a few more years I'll send it to him again.

Yes, sent to to Steve for $150 belt replacement and it cost me just under $750 to get it back!

New bearings, New belt, New pin, Vent kit...
I didnt know it was in such bad shape! It worked fine , belt was preventive maintenance...Well it prevented me from having loose cash for sure
I dont doubt it needed bearings and all but seeing rebuilds for less makes me hope that I got the best there is

Finished in 3hrs. Car is running great. Installed a vent kit in the primary distributor. Where do I connect the end of the vent kit hose? Replaced the rotors too. Will do the plugs when I have a little extra time. I did notice the the plugs to the second rotor were visible with moderately easy access on the top side of the motor but where are the other six (primary distributor plugs)?

Its takes a bit longer to do the plugs, especially the first time, the top set isnt so bad (except for number 6...under the power steering pump)

The bottom set requires removal of cat and shields. Sure isnt like doing a 356!

Best get a magnetic spark plug socket from Autozone ...dropping a plug off a wrench takes a bit of time to fish out

Hose from dist goes on hot air pipe, mine is just to right of vent for center reflector/tail lights

Sweet I will get to the plugs as soon as I can. The car seems to be running great. I would agree. That reminds me that I should do the plugs in my 356 soon too.

I just did my plugs and wires, after I did it I read some tutorials on it here, quite helpful (should have read them first) Especially the one that began

"Remove engine"...it would have been much easier
