It may be the power top control unit, think it's under the dash on the driver's side. I had this kind of problem a while back, you might check to see whether cleaning the connectors works, as this is apparently a common problem with these.

So I removed a couple relays, put them back in, and now the top works as it should - big relief. BTW, the relays were the DME (which I swapped for a new one, no differance) and then one that was for the "sun roof" and one for the "control unit" - none were noted to be for the "power top" but obviously one of those was. Which one?
Thanks.

Glad to hear the top is working; am not sure which one of the DME is the culprit. If you do go after the cab top control unit it is under the driver side dash; do a search as there are some great posts on this. The one thing not mentioned is that if you take the knee board/lower dash panel off you will get some much needed room to get up in the area... might also see about hiring a midget to do the job as the space for the hands is pretty limited. Good luck! Might also add that you may want to look into understanding how to put your top up manually just incase of emergency... and it's not that difficult.
