Well, one is an old one from the '92 C4 in Park City years ago. More recent are the '97 C4S using the same rack, either with the bike attachment or for the skis/board.
Worth noting that the 2 first pictures are of the original parts ski rack, corrected for height so that the skis are flat and don't turn into a reversed wing at german highway speeds.
C4 with chains? Wow, I thought the AWD would have been enough to go just about anywhere. Well, unless, the summer tires were still mounted, then I would see the need for chains.

Not sure what about skis will have much of an aero effect. Snowboard, maybe. But how fast are dudes driving over there on winter tires? I've tipped into that territory, especially with the '92 C4 in the old days, without noticing anything.
(Then again I ran my '73S with stock bodywork equal through some of the highest speed corners we have out here without feeling I was giving up anything to the lap record holder.)

Last month I unknowingly got onto a closed I-80 coming back one day. Was able to run about 10 miles in ~4" virgin powder in near white out with the C4S. Close as I'll ever be able to say I've "skied" a car. Absolutely no traction issues. 30-60MPH, on throttle the front would pull until I could get on it and then into a slight drift. Would have been nice to have a 964 around to compare characteristics.
205/235 X17 Michelin X-ice studless ice and snow on some old Cup 1s left over from the RSA racer. 21mm spacer in the rear.
Not sure if they're supposed to be run in anything much over freezing temps, as I read a 160F tread temperature when I got back Thursday afternoon after a couple of hours of 75-80 freeway cruising. Unbelievable how much rubber smell there was.
^^ Indeed she has changed her mind! Thanks for all the pics: this should become the official 964 rack thread. And for the sake of comparison, here some other P-cars with, ahem, nice racks.
And this new "Porsche Everyday" ad campaign they've got going is to get us back to our roots, or convince the gotta-have-a-5K lb-SUV-for-a-bag-of-groceries crowd that a Porsche sports car isn't just a fifth vehicle in the household?
