Yes I'm 16 and I bought my 964 paying the half part, my father paid the other one hehehe. I bought it with 15 years old!
Now I'm doing a service, replacing a lot of things, valve cover gaskets, chain tensioner cover gaskets, coils, distributor cap, rotors, and a lot of oil tubes.. ah! and 02 sensor..
Regards!

Just replaced rear brake pads, easier than I thought ! Only the wear indicators are a pain
in the ***, so I disarmed them... a Porsche driver checks his brakes regularly.
Up to the front brakes......

Electrical I definitely do myself except the computer due to not having a scan tool as yet. A lot of the mechanical until it comes to the serious internals as I do not have the tools or set up for that. (Also not sure of my knowledge but I can research ) Body, paint and alignment stuff don't have the tools nor the skill for that.
I keep track of mileage, date and service, repair, or replacement in a book I keep in the glove box in that little soft leather binder that comes with the car. -D²

@Mc.Queen 964- Awesome dude. I wanted a 914 in college but couldn't get it due to money so I just kept working on my VW Supper Beetle, then a VW Bus, a Karman Ghia then finally at 33 a 1977 911s.
Hats off to you! -D²

Burning Brakes
Rarebear I know what you mean. I am just a clocks tick way from 60 and last week completed plugs, plug wires, caps rotors, swapped distributor with one rebuilt by Steve Weiner, valve adjust, oil change, MAF CLean, degrease and paint everything I took off, new belts , new rubber oil hoses on lines to and from tank ,new oil return tubes , "tint" rear lenses, replace engine sound pad, fuel filter and more i cant remember right now, I still hurt but (with help from Rennlisters when I was stuck) I got it done myself, got it done right and my Pcar is running like new , does not stain the garage floor!
The pain will go away, the smile on my face when I turn the key will not!
Next up....Cat bypass...probably Fabspeed..oh yes and that torn outer axle boot I noticed on the right../those are always good for Entertainment!

I've always done the majority of work on my vehicles except stuff I just can't do. I've even painted one car, not that it was a walk in the park but good enough for a 5-foot paint job. We're fortunate here in No. Virginia in that we have a DIY place that rents lifts, tools, tire balancers, etc., etc. for very, very reasonable rates.
