Default what the ????

ok....hate to sound like a rookie who doesn't know anything....but thats what I am. can anyone please identify these 2 parts that I found loose in the trunk and give me a location as to where they are normally stored???

and

also if someone feels generous can you please take a picture of the jack and how it fits in the trunk? it seems like my jack just doesn't fit in the little slot (perhaps wrong jack??) also where do you hide the jack handle which is too long for the tool pouch pocket??

thank you everyone. as I dig into my new car it seems I have a few questions here and there that I can't find answers to elsewhere.

The first one is a battery hold down. Normally bolted to the floor of the truck to hold the battery in place.

Never seen the second one before.

Should be a round black *** that screws in the end of the jack to hold it in place.

2nd is a part of the tool kit, I think it is the emergency crank for the sunroof, iirc

never seen that in the tool kit before.

the emergency sunroof looks like speed wrench that plugs into the screwdriver handle.

I have one of those too and the only thing I can deduce is that it is for an emergency where the windows won't roll down.. you use the 'screwdriver' to remove the ****, screw it in and it's a window crank lever.

Correct on both parts. The second is the emergency (manual) crank for sunroof and window winders. Leave in your tool kit, and hope you never have to use it .

+1 with hawk time consuming especially in an emergency.

...but if the rain is coming and you are parked outside, I bet you'd figure it out quickly!

That's what I think the "emergency" means. It's starting to rain and the button doesn't work, better get out the crank. Rather than...Holy @#$!% I'm burried in quicksand and it's starting to run into the sunroof!

It's one of the little "extras" our cars come with that are thoughtful and well engineered. Like the fuse tester in the front fuse panel! Or the emergency triangle that my car has, along with a factory first aid kit. I have an Audi with the last 2, but I haven't seen another car with the fuse tester, especially a 20 y/o car.

Me neither. Quite the cool feature. Just learned that the tester is just a '53' relay with an opening for the fuse on top, so it can be swapped around to test the other relays.

I was surprised to find the fuse tester. I was actually surprised when I opened the fuse box and did NOT see the plastic fuses with the exposed element on the side.
