Default Hawk's Friday post March 25

well, took the broke cab pieces to a metal shop for welding. They said it would be 1/2 hr or so of work, and that the metal was high quality so it should be a good weld. I told him it was a Porsche, it better be good metal! Looking at $40 or so for the weld, then I'll clean it up and paint it. I'd love to get it back today if they can manage to get it in and done for me.

Got a photo shoot tonight with a friend of mine. He's a fitness trainer, so it should be fun. He's in REALY good shape; makes me look like the Sta-puffed marshmallow man

Not much else... wife is on me to clean up cars so if I have time, one of the DD gets a detailing this weekend.

What have you got planned?

I'm running some lights inside the v-berth of my sailboat, should be interesting. The PO('s) cut a few corners in the past with some of the wiring, so there's no telling what I'll find in there.
Other than that, enjoying the 80 degree weather, all the sunshine, and the gorgeous women in town for Charleston Fashion Week!
It really doesn't get much better.

My cab's engine rebuild in on-hold, waiting for the engine stand yoke. The ETA is Tuesday. Meanwhile, I will be taking my GF's car to get its annual state inspection and some summer tires mounted on new wheels. After that I will be visiting our local Volvo dealership to test drive a used XC70 wagon. I'm looking to replace my Honda Civic as my winter car and also to have a car that can more easily carry 4 adults and the occasional trip to Lowes or Home Depot. May end up selling the Honda to my GF's daughter.

Looking forward to getting my coupe back from getting new tires and alignment. The roads are almost safe to begin driving the 964 again as my daily driver.

Rob, you should see the craters, I mean potholes, we have around here. You could seriously lose the oil pan on some of them.

We had a ton of rain this past week, but sun is out, roads are dry ~and~ salt free.
Picking up the cab from the mechanic later today, have missed it this past week. Hopefully the car will be a lot drier, a little throatier, and a few hp stronger.
I took the leaf blower to the garage this morning on the baby's nap time (when's she out, she's out) to 'clear out' the dirt, leaves, dust and salt in anticipation of the car's arrival. Same gas (+ Sta-bil) int the blower as the fall. fired right up.... which is nice. Looking forward to a sunny weekend and some Porsche outings with the kid harness and LATCH in place.

Edit: Car not ready til Monday.....anticipation...

I'll be up early each morning to watch the first F1 GP of the season

Then, I'll be stripping down the inlet manifold of the boxster and cleaning the throttle body in the hope of regaining some of its performance because it seems so much slower than the 964 these days!

Still working on cutting up and dragging the giant oak tree out of the way at my property this weekend. Today I have been on my roof cleaning out the oak leaves and bumper crop of acorns that fell this spring. Time to munch on the pizza I just took out of the oven. No pcar work just driving.

Hawk - $46 is almost unhurd of. Was the canvas on your cab damaged? Will you replace any of the window gaskets while you have it apart? I replaced mine and it helped stop some wind noise and water drips. Unfortunately, they weren't cheap.

New wheels for the 964 arrived yesterday, so now I have to figure out what its going to take to get them to fit nicely...

Luckily I have plenty of time because it is still snowing.

Rob, I've got the driver's side B-pillar seal that has to be replaced; it was bent and mangled and didn't survive the dis-assembly I'd like to redo the other upper seals as i have a drip on both sides up where the top meets the frame. Not sure if I need the one on the leading edge of the cab top, or if it's the seal the window fits in on the upper side. And yes... I know it's not cheap- looks like almost $600 for all the seals.

I also noticed the b-pillar seals whistle a bit. Did you try to move that bracket forward any to quiet the whistle? Did you have a whistle?
