I had the lip inside "rolled" or folded up for more tire clearance when I owned an '87 911. The entire lip in the fender doesnt need to be rolled to get tire clearance just maybe 6"-8" at the top of the arch. I went to the local Porsche body repair specialist and he used a baseball bat! Worked like a charm. It was the wood variety, not an aluminum bat.

...and using a baseball bat isn't a "beating"... they just use the wooden conical shape as a mandrel, against a tire, and it affords a skilled person a lot of feel for what's going on. Almost better than a fender roller as you can make micro adjustments.
THOUGH... I am curious as to why the rolling? I have had interference issues that were solved by a better fit on the liner and interior seams... so just curious.
