Can you identify the Luk vs. Freudenberg DMF while installed??
Hello Gents,
I am afraid that my 91 C4 Cab may still have the original Freudenberg DMF.
I did see this comment on an earlier thread:
*******
A mechanic could see through access holes under the car to see if the update has been done. The newer LUK flywheel will have a bolted on starter ring gear instead of a welded on one (Freudenberg)
*******
Can anyone tell me what I have from the picture? Is this torx bolt that of a LUK? Thanks in advance.

Not sure of the answer; however, you might not worry about it. I used to have a '95 993 and the (Luk) DMF failed around 45kmiles. Go figure. If yours doesn't make a clunking noise when you back off the gas pedal, your DMF is probably just fine.

Hey Laker, hard for me to tell, but it looks like this photo is of one of the 9 bolts that attach the pressure plate to the flywheel. You might have to get a different angle on a view hole (more from the rear looking forward), or remove the starter, to see the starter ring gear.
